Include Us – Domestic Abuse Awareness Project
The Include Us project aims to improve understanding of domestic abuse within the Deaf community by providing accessible information in British Sign Language (BSL). Many Deaf people face barriers to accessing support because information and services are often not fully accessible. Through BSL workshops, interpreter training, and an online awareness campaign, the project helps Deaf people recognise different forms of abuse, learn the language to talk about it, and understand where to get help. The project also works with interpreters and partner organisations to improve knowledge and communication around domestic abuse.
By increasing awareness and building confidence, Include Us supports Deaf people to stay safe, seek support, and have their voices heard.
